This course is meant to introduce the students to the economic analysis of the labour market. The syllabus is divided into two parts. The first part covers the foundations of the functioning of labour demand and labour supply and the determination of the market equilibrium. The second part discusses a number of important topics in labour economics, such as education, migration, and discrimination. The list of topics can be adapted during the course according to the needs and interests of the class. Lectures are complemented by activities such as problem sets and reading groups.
