This module provides theoretical, historical and institutional perspectives to understand globalization and its current unfolding. The focus is on the political economy of global capitalism, global value chains, the financial-globalization nexus and the limits to globalization.

The course organizes on these issues a dialogue between leading critical social theory and some key contributions of the specialized literature.

The lectures and discussions in class will be based on a selection of books' extracts and articles. Some readings are required. Because the course will not allow exploring the details of the texts, it is a pre-condition to engage with the arguments.
Tutorial will allow for an additional personal work.
