Compulsory course for the master's in biology orientation Microbiology
Aim: To acquire an in-depth and current understanding of fundamental, medical, applied, and environmental microbiology. The course consists of two hours of teaching/presentation, one hour of individual reading and preparation of publications on the subject, followed by two hours of discussion of the publications the following week.
Evaluation: The course 14B082 is mandatory. It will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. Presence: two absences per semester are tolerated as long as they are justified (medical certificate, reason validated by the section, etc.). Without justification, the course will not be validated.
2. Students have to be active during discussions. The instructor will give an assessment based on the student’s involvement, which will be part of the final grade. Discussions/presentations of articles, or figures from articles, assigned by the teacher, will also be evaluated.
3. In case of failure (grade lower than 4.0), additional work will be required. This could be in the form of an oral exam, a discussion of an article, or a written paper (monograph) on a topic defined by the orientation coordinators.
