This institutional project has been developed by the Geneva Responsible Entrepreneurship Center (GREC) to support GSEM Bachelor students, who are members of the Junior Entreprise Geneva (JEG), an associated hosted at UNIGE and GSEM, in developing and running a Sustainable Entrepreneurship Hackathon during the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in November 2023, based on a first excellent mini-hackathon run by JEG and hosted at UBS Romandie Headquarters in 2022.
The institutional project involves weekly coaching sessions from early October until December 2023 (online or face-to-face) and ponctual support by the teachers to help students build, run and follow-up on the JEG Sustainable Entrepreneurship Hackathon. Hence, this project encourages students and JEG overall to organize the conditions for the initiation of responsible entrepreneurship, which in turn could be further developed as entrepreneurship or intrapreneurship projects, or social and/or not-for-profit entreprises, with the support of JEG.

Through a carefuly organised journey, students, will
- attend presentations on sustainable finance at the Building Bridges Conference (CICG, Oct. 3-5),
- develop concrete solution prototypes during the Sustainable Finance Hack by resorting to collective intelligence with fellow students and professionnals (Unimail, Oct. 6-7),
- learn about the entrepreneurail mindset (date tbc),
- Identify most promising entrepreneurial opportunities to continue developing their project (Oct. - Dec 2023)

Course Description
Philanthropy is characterized by a common goal: improving humanity’s well-being. This goal has been recently formalized by the U.N. 2030 Agenda to achieve the 17 Sustainable Developing Goals. The world revolving around this mission, however, is extremely complex and touches upon several different disciplines including Digital Transformation, Finance, Law, Philosophy, and Psychology. This class has two main focuses: one (morning sessions) at the main approaches to Philanthropy in the Western hemisphere, discussing the opportunities and challenges of each of these. The goal of the course is for students to acquire fundamental knowledge about the Philanthropic sector and related organizations (e.g. sustainable financial investors). The second (afternoon sessions) brings in a regional dimension: very little is known and taught about alternative approaches, such as the Asian (e.g. China, India), Middle Eastern/Arabic (e.g. U.A.E, Jordan), Latin American (e.g.Brazil, Mexico) and African (e.g. South-Africa) ways of doing Philanthropy. This part of the course offers an introductory overview of how philanthropy in each of these geographies approach key thematic areas of philanthropic engagement. Emphasis will be put on the thematic area that is most prevalent or relevant for the given geography, and include education, health, and women empowerment.
With over 3.000 foundations registered in Geneva alone including more than 1.200 philanthropic foundations, this course prepares students to make informed contributions to the philanthropic sector helping philanthropists to accomplish the goals they care about.

Please note, that Responsible Management is a mandatory course for all GSEM Master in Responsible Management students, and as such, these students have priority to attend. In general, the course is open for non-GSEM students, however it is dependent on the final enrollment numbers.
The society of the 21st century is in a crisis marked by resource scarcity, deforestation, climate change, social and economic inequality, and poverty, to mention just a few. Looking at this societal and environmental state of our planet, the role of business and capitalism requires rethinking. Business-as-usual is not an option anymore. Organizations need to pause and reflect on the negative societal and environmental impacts of their practices and operations, as well as opportunities for positive impact.
This course examines the transition to a more responsible, purposeful, and sustainable economy. The course introduces frameworks, approaches, and best practices on how organizations develop and implement a business model that has a positive impact on society and the environment while being profitable. Students will describe, analyze, and evaluate the social and environmental impact of organizations.
The course is delivered through a mix of lectures, case studies, and class discussions. The course includes continuing assessments comprised of a group project and an individual semester case study.

- additive models in the context of descriptive analysis (GAM if possible...).
In addition, some concepts of causal analysis, mediation, and moderation will be addressed.

Students are presented with real-world data applications such as testing of asset pricing models. Students are also exposed to emerging applications of asset pricing tools including machine learning methods and pricing climate risk.
The corporate finance section will focus on issues related to the financial decisions of firms and the tools to value projects and companies. For instance, the section will explore how capital structure choices are affected by market imperfections. The section will also introduce students to different company valuation concepts such as WACC and the Adjusted Present Value method. Students will also learn about firms' payout policy choices. In the final part of the section, students will learn about more specialized corporate finance topics related to venture capital, IPOs and Mergers and Acquisitions.
