Purpose and Objectives of the Course
There can be no economic exchange outside a contractual framework. Contracts are fundamental to business transactions. The course aims to familiarize students with the legal framework governing contractual and economic relations.
By the end of the course, Students should be able to:
• become familiar with the Swiss legal system, including the functioning of the judiciary in private law matters
• understand the various categories/branches of law
• acquire a thorough understanding of the basic mechanisms of contract law and the fundamentals principles of the law of obligations (how legal obligations arise, are performed and are extinguished)
• understand the rights and duties of contractual parties, as well as the legal consequences of non-performance
• be familiar with some contracts commonly used in economic practice contracts in economic life
• anticipate and manage contractual risks in business practice
• communicate effectively with legal professional by mastering basic legal concepts and terminology
• apply legal reasoning to practical cases of medium complexity relevant to economic and business contexts
