The dream vision is a genre of literature that flourished in Medieval England, and this course will explore the reasons for its popularity, and the various manifestations that texts took. Beginning with a foundational text, Boethius’s The Consolation of Philosophy, we will move forward into the late-medieval period, looking at some of the most famous and influential Dream Visions of the day, including  Chaucer’s Chaucer’s Parliament of Fowls and Book of the Duchess, as well as the anonymous poem, Pearl
