Objectif
The methodological aim of this course is to provide analytical and theoretical knowledge of the impact of crises on European integration and to show how to apply these theories to the empirics of various European crises since 2005.
Descriptif
We will ask what crises are and how to link crises and European integration theories. It is important to understand what the EU is and how shocks can affect it: e.g., do external shocks have the same impact as internal shocks? Does it matter who is to blame for a crisis? Building on these theoretical foundations, we will examine the crises that hit Europe successively or simulatenously (among others and subject to change): the Euro Area Crisis, the Migration Crisis, Climate Change the Russian Invasion of Ukraine, the Social Crisis and Democratic Backsliding.
