Group theory is a branch of algebra, but its modern development is very much connected to other
areas of mathematics such as geometry, low-dimensional topology, theory of dynamical systems
and more. The aim of the course is to explore these various connections by visiting a 'zoo' of groups
and getting acquainted with its inhabitants, hence making abstract group theory less abstract and
more concrete.
