(there may be an additional code for other faculties!)

Welcome to the Spring 2026 session.

In this course, you will learn how to design and develop a mobile multimedia digital service, considering technical, business, legal, and ethical factors that affect their success. We will explore the full lifecycle of a digital service—from idea to commercialization. This includes identifying user needs, defining requirements, building prototypes, testing, securing funding, and creating a business plan.

The course will cover:

  • User-centered design principles
  • Requirements specification and project management
  • Technical, economic, and organizational aspects of digital services
  • Legal and ethical considerations in service development
  • Strategies for funding and launching a startup

By the end, you will have a structured approach to turning ideas into viable digital services.

The course/seminar follows a project development plan over the whole 14 weeks. You will work in self-assembled groups, which must be formed in the first 2 weeks of the course. This course's Moodle will close after the groups are formed. Latecomers will be asked to come back next year!

The course and seminar will be given in English. The students are thus required to have a good knowledge of English in reading, speaking, and writing.

The course takes place from 12.15-14h, and the seminar, which will be given from 14.15-16h, is part of the course. Both are compulsory. Any planned swap of the course/seminar times will be announced at the first lecture.

OBLIGATORY group pitches that count for your grade are scheduled as follows: 12 March 12.15-16h, 16 April 12.15-16h, 30 April 12.15-16h, and 28 May 12.15-16h (final 'exam' pitch). For each pitching day, the order of presenters is randomized. You have to be there for the whole time: 12.15-16h.

NOTE: If you follow the "Mobile systems and services" 2026 course with us, you will deploy and test your design concept from this 'concept' course as a mobile service! This mobile service will become your exam for the 'mobile' course. It will all become clear at the first week of teaching :-)
