This course is intended for non-native English speakers. The aim is for you to develop a more creative approach and familiarize yourself with the differences between Italian and English, not only on a grammatical, lexical and syntactic level, but also on a stylistic level. Throughout the semester, you will be asked to :
- translate a variety of different texts from IT to EN, including tourist texts, literary texts, food writing and ads
- read similar texts produced in English and identify differences with the Italian texts, in terms of voice and style
- edit and improve texts translated by non-native English speakers
- revise and improve your classmates' translations
- practice your oral skills by debating a variety of different issues
