Scope
Introduction to high-resolution NMR for structure determination of organic molecules using : 1D and 2D NMR experiments, and other spectroscopic methods.
Content
- Importance of NMR and the basic principles of NMR spectroscopy
- 1D 1H, 13C, and X (X=19F, 29Si, 31P, 77Se) NMR experiments for organic molecules in solution
- Probing covalent bonds and connectivity in organic molecules (homonuclear and heteronuclear correlation NMR experiments)
- Correlations through space (important to provide information of the 3D molecular geometry)
- Probing dynamics with NMR
- Identification of organic compounds using NMR and other spectroscopy/spectrometry methods available. (Brief overview of mass spectrometry (MS) and infrared (IR) spectroscopy).
