From elemental composition to chemical states: understanding what XPS can reveal about your materials.

This one-day workshop introduces X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and its applications for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in physics, chemistry and related fields. Through short lectures and live demonstrations, participants will learn what information XPS can provide, including elemental composition, chemical states and bonding environment. An important part of the workshop is an interactive discussion in which participants briefly present their own research projects, allowing the group to explore where XPS may (or may not) provide useful information and how suitable experiments can be designed.
