This course will be taught by Dr Diego GONZALEZ

Summary:
Over the last decades, we have come to realize that the physiology and evolution of multicellular organisms is deeply shaped by, and entangled with, the microorganisms they are associated with. Microbiome studies in particular have raised a number of questions around fundamental biological concepts'like the concepts of biological individuality or the holobiont'that deserve to be addressed. The objective of this activity is to discuss some of these concepts and the ways in which they have been impacted by recent findings about animal and plant microbiomes. Using these concepts, we will discuss a broad range of microbe-microbe associations and Animal- or Plant-microbe symbioses.
