Students wishing to write their mémoire in any of my areas of expertise are invited to make an appointment (deborah.madsen@unige.ch) to discuss their ideas. Relevant areas are: any aspect of North American literature and culture; settler colonialism and critical Indigenous studies; Vegan studies; narratology; feminism and gender studies; and the relations between textual form and political context(s). Many of my publications are accessible via the Archive Ouverte, which offers a clear indication of the scope of my research.
I expect that students working under my supervision will follow my "Literary Research Methodologies" seminar, which is offered every Autumn. If the seminar cannot be taken for credit, students should audit the classes to become familiar with the resources and research skills that are expected will be used in the mémoire project.
